What people ask us most
Can I exchange my foreign driving licence?
Often yes. Which tests you need to take is decided case by case by the Landratsamt Rems-Murr-Kreis, depending on the country, the class and the issue date. Important: licences from outside the EU are usually only valid in Germany for six months after you register your residence here. Come and see us early.
How long does it take?
Six to ten weeks on average. In our intensive course you complete all theory lessons within seven to ten days.
What do I need to register?
A valid ID card or passport, a biometric photo, an eyesight certificate and proof of a first aid course. If something is missing, we will tell you where to get it quickly.
Can I learn on an automatic car?
Yes. You can learn and take the test on an automatic. Your licence will then carry code 78, meaning automatic vehicles only. If you later want to drive a manual car, additional training is required.
Can I start the theory lessons at any time?
Yes. The fourteen theory topics do not build on one another — each is self-contained. You start at the next lesson and catch up on the missing topics later. There is no need to wait for weeks.
Are there female instructors?
Yes, women teach here too. If that matters to you, just say so when you register.
New in Germany?
A large part of our students moved to Germany recently. For many of them the driving licence is the first serious piece of German bureaucracy — with an application, deadlines and test appointments.
That is exactly where we help. We explain the theory in a language you understand, we submit the application to the Landratsamt Rems-Murr-Kreis for you, and we book your tests at the TÜV. You only need to bring your documents — and learn to drive.
One thing we always say honestly: the practical test is in German only, and an interpreter is not allowed. Because we know that, we make sure you are prepared for the German instructions you will hear during the test.
